| Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers hired John Kuester to serve as an assistant coach. Kuester had worked as the head coach for the Detroit Pistons for the last two years before being fired on June 5 after a meeting between Pistons ownership and himself. He had a 57-107 record over two seasons with the club, including a 30-52 mark in 2010-11. Maduabum, a 6-9 forward from Nigeria, was chosen 56th overall in Thursday's draft. He last played for the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA D-League.
